We all go to school to learn the basics of life. We start learning how to talk, write and read correctly and as we grow up we learn subjects that can be more challenging such as: Math, Science, Design Technology, etc. As we keep on growing and maturing we start to make real decisions. A huge decision that I did, one of my biggest ones actually, was to join the innovation academy. I realized that through this small act I was mature enough to take a risk and challenge my learning style to make a flip towards the better and the unknown. Now that I have been more than 1 year in the IA, I have realized that I took the right decision and that my risk was worth it.
I started this blog like this because high school students don’t usually learn the skills that we have developed; skills that will make us see the world differently, in a more professional and knowledgeable way. With this said, I learned something called the T-shaped learning method. A method that everyone should follow and that most of us follow without even noticing it. We learn the basics about everything: Math, Science, Marketing, Administration, Finance, Languages, Video Editing, poem writing, everything creating a wide environment with enough knowledge to for the upper part of the T or what I call the hat. Then, we get involved in a passion or a theme that we love, not like, love and dig into it and at the end hopefully become a master at it creating the lower part of the T or what I call the stick.
This method has helped me balance my life and little by little, my life is becoming perfect square. The only different aspect that I have modified was that instead of having one stick I have two sticks. I was reflecting about this method throughout the week and realized that I wanted to study entrepreneurship and become the best at it; I thought that I had already discovered my T. Then I kept on thinking and realized that I had already mastered something in my life, or at least digged hugely into it and that was water polo. I thought to myself, water polo cant be my T because it will not feed me or my future family but its something that I appreciate and love.
You may think that I am crazy but I created the Rectangular learning method. A shape that has two larger sides (sticks) and then two shorter sides (caps). I was going to challenge myself and master two aspects entrepreneurship and water polo. As much as I would like to just go to one side, I cant. A wise men once said: “ If you love something, follow it” and that’s what I am doing.
