Today was the first day of school after summer vacation (winter vacation in the US). We started class as any other normal day; ready to work and learn.
We decided to do a short film talking about our vacation independent project. We got in partners and started the task; in order to do this we had to see the different lighting, place where we would film, what would we say; small things that make you achive perfection. We had 1 hour to do this task so the video editing is not as cool as it could be and we improvised a lot in the video because the main reason to film was to reflect.
Why you did it:
I did this because water polo is my passion and I am the Roosevelt coach. Since I have not studied to be a coach and I am just a player I wanted to have a greater knowledge and so I could train my students correctly and make them be “the best”. Also one of my university options is to be a sport coach or manager so this will help me decide if I like the job and how can I be the best professional ever. Learn techniques, styles, muscle structure, etc.
Any struggles:
I didn’t have many struggles but the biggest one was that I got so many information through the tournaments that I went during summer but I didn’t have enough time to right it or take the information correctly because I was concentrated in the tournament.
What did I learn:
I learned many things, in fact my brain is overloaded of water polo and coaching but if I need to select one thing right know I would say that athletes learn differently. You have to figure out how psychologically prepared they are. Measure their physical strength and resistance with their age, weight and field position. Learn how the different students get the information be it by a theorical class, a active class on water, outside of water and give each athlete a chance.
It was a cool project, very challenging as well since this could help me in the future I and to be serious at all times and check every minimal expression or word that the different coaches said.
