Every one is different, every team has different players, strategies and coaches. This is the main reason why sports are so diverse and interesting, there are so many ideas, thoughts, game moves and strategies that classify water polo as a sport.
As I said, and I am sure that everyone knows.. All of the coaches are different, some are tall, short, bold, fat, etc there are all types of coaches but appearance doesn't matter in water polo, maybe a little in soccer, but not in water polo. What matters is how you train your players and the knowledge, experience and leadership abilities that a coach has; thats what makes a great coach from my point of view.

There where two coaches in the absolute national Cuban team. Both of them had more than 30 years of experience, A LOT! As I mentioned, experience brings is the base of knowledge, you can read 100 books, see 400 videos but if you never play water polo you will definitely never be a great coach. When a coach has experience he or she knows how to treat a team correctly, how to form a team from the beginning, how to make sure players are comfortable but at the same time exhaust; and that was the first thing that I learned in Cuba about coaching. Then, you could see the respect that coaches have. Once you have a coach you immediately respect him and care for him as well. You could see that when the Cubans started their daily practice they all stood up in a line without talking and their coach told them: "Are you ready?", and they all answered "Yes sir". This small act of respect actually means so much and once you see that a team does this you realize that the coaches and the team has a good water polo level and that they are disciplined. If any player came late, they would swim for hours, at least that was what the coach told me because I didn't see anyone come late. | Jose Antonio Luque: Peruvian National Coach I dont mean to be racist at all, but I have seen a pattern in the coaches in Cuba, they are all bold. The coaches with the most experience are bold for some reason; I didn't ask why since it could be disrespectful but it is a curious subject. |
I remember in one of the many games we had with Cuba that I started to counter attack; and a cuban grabbed my feet. I continued to swim, and since the referee did
