The first day at Grey!
I woke up in the morning ready to go explore a new world, and go to my first internship at Grey. The day started weird in some way since I had to go to Grey by bus, in Peru we call buses micros or combies. Greys address is Av. Aviacion 4080 and I had heard wrong an thought that it was on 480… This meant that I went to block 4 when Grey was at block 40! Lucky I got out of my house early and got early even though I had this little problem.
When I got to Grey, Eliana, my mentor showed me her two helpers: Johnny and Renzo. Johnny told me that each Monday there’s a meeting called ¨Status¨ where everyone checks how they are doing and their weekly goals or problems. This means that they are socially
responsible! During this meeting I got to know each one of the Grey team.
Then I got to understand a little more about Grey and how there were 2 main sections that were a paradox, they are very similar but at the same time very different. These two sections were: BTL and ATL. In this case, BTL means ¨Below the Line¨ and it’s the section where events are taken place. Then ATL means ¨Above the Line¨ and its the section where commercials are done, radio ads, posters, etc.

After a while of getting to understand everything and being familiar with the environment, Renzo told me to call the winner of a event they had created and explain to him that he had won a price and that he had to come and receive it. I actually felt nervous when calling him and I think I even shacked a little! His name was Leandro Ruiz Villavicencio, everything went fine and he told me that he would come to receive the price on Wednesday at 3.
Then came lunch, in my case lunch was informal even though I had lunch with two important persons from Grey they made a lot of jokes and didn’t talk a lot about Grey but instead about life in general. After lunch Eliana told me if I wanted to go to a meeting with her and Liliana to check out with the sponsors and partners about a commercial that they wanted to make, I obviously said yes.

In this meeting, I got treated very well, nobody knew I was in school and even less in an internship, they thought I was part of the Grey group and I worked there, it felt cool. They talked about Don Pepes commercial and how 3D figures were very expensive compared to 2D figures. There was a lot of ideas thrown out in the table and then we came to an agreement. To have a budget of the commercial with 3D, 2D and a 5 comercial sprint with both 3D and 2D, AMAZING! |
