“My goal in advocating a scientific approach to the creation of startups is to channel human creativity into its most productive from, and there is no bigger destroyer of creative potential than the misguided decision to persevere.”
Creative potential. Everyone has potential somewhere, it may be hidden, but I promise its there. In my case, my potential circles around one word: Perseverance. I know that I am a fine water polo player due to my effort and dedication to this sport, five years of daily practice has formed me as an athlete, but some blogs away I had written about a new goal, to become the best in my academics. Once I read chapter 8 of the Lean Startup, a chapter talking about “pivoting” and its importance, I understood that if I wanted to be the best I had to change my way of thinking and develop my “creative potential” in my academic area. |
How would I develop my creative potential? Could I actually pivot as well?
My way of thinking has been changing; maturity has developed through the years. Maturity is a sign that will help me outcome the distractions that tackle me out of my learning zone and that could destroy little by little my creative potential. Accepting feedback is a great sign of maturity, not being afraid to say I failed, but I will not fail again, and if I do, I will stand up and keep on working hard and smart. As you mature, your creative potential will develop and perseverance should be a sign of this.
